Kampot is a small city on the Preaek Tuek Chhu River in southern Cambodia known for its pepper plantations and salt fields. It has a population of 50,000 and tourism is just starting to boom in the area making it ripe for development of new hotels, restaurants, bars and site-seeing. Locals who speak English well in these developing Cambodian cities have a distinct advantage when it comes to fair and secure employment in hospitality.
Our Majory Project at the Mouymakara Primary School will provide underprivileged students from within the school more intensive English classes taught outside regular school hours. These Evening English Classes will be free and are designed to develop their English language skills to a higher level assisting them to obtain gainful employment in hospitality.
Sunday 7 October, 10 – 11am at Burleigh Heads on the Gold Coast – SAVE THE DATE. Invitations will be sent to members in the coming weeks, but anyone is welcome to attend.
Please note that our President and Secretary will be resigning at the AGM so we will be seeking nominations for these positions. We urge you all to consider nominating to be an integral part of this wonderful charity.
We are also seeking new members to help us plan, fundraise and draw awareness to the children, families and communities we support with our beneficial projects.
Can you please share this news with your family, friends and colleagues to help us draw a crowd to the AGM so that we can continue to create opportunities, equity and independence through education on the ground in Cambodia.
